Season’s greetings!
Welcome to the final GAETSS E-Newsletter. After 5 years of publishing
regular updates on a whole spectrum of enabling technologies and
gamification applications and events, I have decided to focus entirely on
consumer 360 degree immersive technologies and
associated applications. I will be starting a new e-newsletter next month
whose theme will be based on a combination of 360 degree
consumer technologies, storytelling and gamification.

Immersive Experiences Workshops
In November, I launched the
360in360 Immersive Experiences Workshop at the Immersive Educations IED
2017 conference in Lucca, Italy. The workshop format is intended to be a
practical hands-on illustration of how to combine 360
degree video, image and sound technologies with storytelling and
gamification to develop 21st century learning skills and
stimulate interest in digital culture and heritage.
The workshop demonstrates a number
of different consumer 360 degree cameras with
examples of their functionality, quality and strengths and weaknesses
before engaging delegates in a team-based global quest game using 360
degree video and images to solve a challenge.
It also includes opportunities for
delegates to develop their own virtual tours and quest challenges using
off-the-shelf software.

In the New Year, I want to
organise a series of national and international 360in360 Immersive Experience
workshops with partners interested in co-hosting these events in possible
“hackathon” formats which create legacy content of value to the delegates
and their stakeholders.
