Short Biography

I am originally from Beirut-Lebanon where I graduated as a “Telecom and low current engineer” from the Lebanese university – faculty of engineering. I am currently living in France.  In October 2012, I finished a PhD thesis untitled “Development of fiber optics displacement sensors used for geophysical applications” at the university of Montpellier2. After passing an 8 months post-doc position at INSA-Rouen working on a project for instrumentation related to Speckle interferometry, I signed a contract in the Laboratory of Phonetics and Phonology - LPP in Paris in order to participate in the conception of a novel vocal tract’s motion capture tool.

CURRENT INTERESTS:

1. What current technologies and tools fulfill your needs in your practice?

Audio and vocal tract motion capture technologies

2. What technologies do you see emerging in the next 5-10 years?

Improved devices for capturing precise movement and audio techniques

3. Could you identify any strengths and weaknesses with these technologies?

Strength: Non-invasive sensors, light.

Weakness: Needs the presence of experienced engineers, can be expensive for some sensors.

FUTURE INTERESTS:

4. Do you think there are additional technologies or tools needed, or that you would wish for?

Yes. More affordable ultrasonic sensors, adapted for all kind of operating systems

5. If these were available what would you be creating?

A more portable system, less expensive.

6. Can you see any strengths and weakness involved?

N/A

7. What do you recommend to fill the gap between creators and technology providers?

Competence, communication
